Des Walker

Des (26th November 1965 – ) started at Ambrose Fleming Comprehensive School in September 1976 and signed schoolboy forms for Tottenham Hotspur, as well as playing for the Enfield Schoolboys team.

Brian Clough and Peter Taylor spotted Des and signed him for Nottingham Forest in 1980 at the age of 14. Forest had won consecutive European Cups in 1979 and 1980.

Des made his first team debut in March 1984 aged 18, and went on to make 717 appearances for Nottingham Forest, Sampdoria and Sheffield Wednesday including 59 full England caps. His England debut came in 1988 against Denmark. He was a starter in all 7 World Cup games held in Italy 1990, when England reached the semi finals to play Germany,  only to be beaten in a penalty shootout.

Des scored on just one occasion and it was a late equaliser for Forest against Luton on New Years Day 1992, a year in which the team finished 8th in the top division.

Des played in 7 Wembley Cup Finals for Forest, winning 5 of these games. He also played in the infamously tragic Hillsborough FA Cup semi final for Forest against Liverpool in 1989.

Des is currently working at Derby County as an Academy Coach.
